Certificate Lifecycle Management - Certificate Instance Definition and Licensing

A Certificate Instance is the unit used to measure and charge for our Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) solution.

1 Certificate Instance = 1 SSL/TLS Server Certificate x 1 Deployment Endpoint

A Certificate Instance refers to one unique SSL/TLS server certificate deployed and actively managed on one specific endpoint, such as a physical server, virtual machine, cloud workload, web server, application server, or load balancer.

Each separate deployment of a certificate is counted as one Certificate Instance, even when the same certificate is installed on multiple endpoints.

Example: If the same SSL/TLS certificate is deployed on web servers behind a load balancer, this will be counted as Certificate Instances. This is because the CLM solution discovers, monitors, manages, renews, and deploys the certificate separately on each server or node.

The total CLM subscription or service charge is calculated based on the total number of Certificate Instances under active management during the applicable subscription period.
